A Smithfield man is behind bars after he allegedly raped a Fayette County woman at a home in Georges Township Sunday.
John Sullivan Pennington, 51, of 189 Blackhill Road was charged Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Randy S. Abraham with rape, unlawful restraint, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and terroristic threats.
According to the criminal complaint filed by state police Trooper Timothy C. Knapp, the incident occurred between 5:30 and 10:30 p.m. at a home in Georges Township.
Knapp said Pennington allegedly raped the woman while repeatedly threatening to kill her and kill himself.
